Honey is natural and its benefits are miraculous. It has created a better place in Ayurveda. Today we will know about the benefits of honey on our body. Eating Honey on regular basis may eliminates many health problems. Honey is usually made from two types of flies, one is thick flies that makes honey in forests and one is small fly that uses for honey farming. Nowadays Honey is also easily available in the market. So it is very important to have honey in our houses. Honey is very beneficial for our health, skin as well as hair also. Honey can be used even by diabetic patients as it is natural thing. It kills harmful bacteria and gives more strength to our body.

Benefits of Honey on Health:

v  It is believed that honey has anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial properties that is beneficial for our body. Because of this, with changing weather or climate, small problems like cough and cold, we can get rid of them. If we eat honey, then our immunity will get strength and then we will not have cold or minor problems.

v  If we are busy in our schedule or work and gets tired then we should eat honey. If we eat honey on an empty stomach, then we will stay away from body weakness and fatigue.

v  Honey is very beneficial for cough due to its destroying honey bacteria. If we are suffering from cough, we should take a spoonful honey before going to bed and then cough will get cured soon. Even many cough syrup companies used honey for making cough syrup.

v  Honey is also beneficial for weight loss. We should boil a glass of water and then let it be cool down. When it gets cold, add lemon and add one spoon of honey and drink it on empty stomach in the morning for at least one month. We will feel underweight in one month.

v  Honey is also very beneficial for eyesight. By applying honey on the eyes before going to sleep, all problems of eyes will start to disappear.

v  Honey has anti-bacterial and moisturizing properties and it can make your skin get rid of dark spots, pigmentation, dark circles and acne scars. It can also help in removing wrinkles.

v  Honey with combination of other moisturizing ingredients like yogurt can help in treating dry and flaky skin.

v  Using pure honey on lips can helps to get rid of dry and rough lips. Apply honey on lips and rub, it gets absorbed into skin and makes lips smooth and soft.

v  5 Homemade Honey Face mask and face pack (for acne, glowing skin and lightning dark areas):

Ø  Baking Soda and Honey face pack:

§  Ingredients:

2 tablespoons Raw Honey.

1 tablespoon Baking Soda.

§  Process:

Mix raw honey with baking soda and make into thick paste. Apply it on acne affected area with fingers and gently scrub in circular motion for 5-7 mins. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Ø  Coconut Oil and Honey face pack:

§  Ingredients:

1 tablespoon coconut oil.

1 tablespoon raw honey.

§  Process:

Blend oil and honey till the oil has been dissolved. Apply the mixture on all over the face. Let it dry for 15 mins and then rinse off.

Ø  Neem and Honey Face mask:

§  Ingredients

1 tablespoon neem leaves powder.

2 tablespoons honey.

§  Process:

First dry the neem leaves under Sunlight and crush them to get the fine powder. Mix the powder with honey and make into paste. Gently apply on the face and let it be dry for few minutes and then rinse off with water.

Ø  Sandalwood powder and Honey face pack:

§  Ingredients:

2 tablespoons sandalwood powder.

2 tablespoons honey.


§  Process:

Mix Sandalwood powder and honey and then add water to make it into paste. Apply the paste all over the face and neck and massage for few minutes in circular motion and rinse off.

Ø  Turmeric and Honey face mask:

§  Ingredients:

1 tablespoon honey.

A pinch of turmeric.

§  Process:

Mix a pinch of turmeric powder and a tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture on face leave it for 25-30 mins. Later rinse off with lukewarm water. Don’t mix too much turmeric to the mixture as it may stain the skin. 

Benefits of Honey on Hair:

v  Honey has rich antioxidant properties. Because of this, it prevents damage, keeping the scalp and hair healthy.

v  Honey has antibacterial properties. It can help in prevent scalp infections and issues like dandruff, itch etc.

v  Honey can act as a cleanser. It can remove impurities from the scalp and minimize clogging.

v  Honey contains proteins, minerals and vitamins strengthens hair follicles, curbing hair fall and baldness.

v  3 Homemade masks for hair treatment:

Ø  Coconut oil and Honey mask:

§  Ingredients:

½ cup coconut oil.

½ cup honey.

§  Process:


Adjust the portion according to the length of hair. Mix both the ingredients and massage this into the hair thoroughly and leave it for 15 mins and then rinse off with cool water and shampoo.

Ø  Egg and Honey hair mask:

§  Ingredients:

2 raw egg.

1 cup honey.

§  Process:

Mix two whole egg with a cup of honey and blend them until to get smooth and apply the mixture to the hair, from roots to the tips. Cover the head with shower cap and wait for 20 mins and then rinse off with shampoo and water.

Ø  Apple cider vinegar and Honey Hair mask:

§  Ingredients:

3 tablespoons honey.

2 tablespoons water.

1 tablespoons apple cider vinegar.

§  Process:

Mix the ingredients in a bowl until to get a smooth mixture. Apply the mask to the hair and scalp and leave it for 15 mins and then wash off with shampoo and water.


All the above masks for hair as well as skin, not use them every day. Use them once in a week as excess use of anything may have adverse effect also.
